friday five: favorite fall activities

Happy Friday my friends! And you know that when it's Friday, it means a Friday Five link up!  I am linking up with the lovely ladies of DC: Courtney at Eat Pray Run DCCynthia at You Signed up for What?, and Mar at Mar on the Run. This week's theme is "Five Favorite Fall Activities".

1. Running. I love running in the fall weather. The foliage is changing colors and is so pretty, and the temperature is perfect.

2. Pumpkin Carving. Since I was a young teen, I've gotten together with one of my favorite older cousins and we carve pumpkins and eat pizza. Of course, now that I'm older, we usually add in some adult beverages :) It's a fun tradition.

3. Family walks. Another perfect fall activity, since the weather is just right. I love going on walks with my husband and our two dogs.

4. Baking. I don't bake too often, but I really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of time to dedicate to it. However, with windows open and not having to worry about the house getting too warm, I like to bake in the fall! What do I bake?.... cookies, cupcakes, oatmeal pies, apple pies, etc. YUM.

5. It's not really an activity, but I love being able to wear jeans, sweaters, and low boots  I can't wear the cute knee high ones every one else can, thanks to my giant legs muscular calves... it's hard to find a pair that fits well and looks good. Anywho, it's my favorite weather and attire :)

What is one (or two) of your favorite fall activities?

Thanks to CourtneyCynthia, and Mar for hosting! Make sure to check out their "Friday Five" posts (direct links above in first paragraph) and link up if you are joining in on the fun (and if you aren't – how come?!). Don't forget to read/comment on some of the other link ups, especially on a Friday like this one where the theme will be all over the place :) It makes it so fun and diverse.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I have to agree, baking in the fall is different than baking any other time of the year... the oven warms up the kitchen, what we bake is full of fun "fall" spices (cinnamon, cloves, etc.), and it just feels festive!

  2. Every single one of these are my favorites too! I have very large calves, and I find that Victoria's Secret knee-length boots fit me very well. I buy the ones with synthetic material (since I'm vegan) so they are relatively inexpensive as far as boots go too. I have three pair that I bought three years ago, and they are holding up really well! The only bad thing about ordering from their catalog is that you forever get tons of Victoria's Secrets catalogs in the mail, ha ha!

    1. I already get tons of their catalogs, so sounds like I should go ahead a buy a few pairs ;) I'll definitely look into those, thanks! Good to know that they can last a while, too.

  3. I was so happy I got to break out my boots the other day! :-) And pumpkin carving is a must.

  4. I'm not a huge baker either but I do like doing it over the holidays. Especially when you spend the time with family doing it. -L

    1. Honestly, I don't do much cooking, so I make up for it in baking :)

  6. I would have to agree with the fall clothes - I broke out the tights and thicker sweaters this week :)

  7. I love it when we can start wearing fallish clothes too. For the time being we are still having 70 degree weather in Paris. I am in shorts and sandals.

  8. Adult beverages sound like a great addition to the pizza and pumpkin carving tradition :)

    1. They really are... just have to make sure not to drink too much before/during the carving ;)

  9. I love fall running. It's so nice to go out in short sleeves and shorts, but not to be drenched when I get done...
